All about Tom Mitchell!
Does anyone read this trivial stuff about DJ’s? Sandra has been hounding me for two months to put this on the KELO-FM site, so here we go!
Personal junk:
born in Minneapolis, grew up in southeastern Minnesota in a town about one hour east of Rochester … Winona. Graduated Winona State University in 1985 and began my radio journey across the country. Yes - Winona State University, home of the three time NCAA Division II National Basketball Champions!
Career crap:
The radio business has employed me in some great cities across our nation – in this order: Winona, MN; LaCrosse, WI; Rockford, IL; Omaha, NE; San Diego, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Indianapolis, IN; Minneapolis, MN; Denver, CO; Milwaukee, WI and now the hidden jewel of the Midwest, Sioux Falls!
Family:
Wife Sue and daughters Sarah & Katie
I met my wife, Sue Bass, in San Diego in 1993. In 1995 we moved to Indianapolis and married in 1996. 1st child born 1997 (hey – we couldn’t wait!) and 2nd child born 1999. Katie is our oldest at 10 (she says “almost 11 Dad”) and Sarah is 9. We live on the southwest side of Sioux Falls and have loved every minute of our time here. Sue's parents, Russ & Carol live with us. We enjoy the big family setting in our home - plus we don't have to pay for babysitting or lawn care fees! (Thanks Russ for doing a great job on the lawn, and "Thanks" Carol for keeping the laundry clean & emptying the dishwasher every day) I’m even getting used to the wind.
Hobbies:
My best friend Jack and I ~2007 goose/duck hunting season
I love to hunt … and fish. But hunting is my favorite. I don’t’ really care to touch fish, so I don’t spend too much time chasing the underwater variety of game. My favorite hunt is for duck and geese. 2nd fav is pheasant hunting. I do enjoy a deer hunt from time to time, but haven’t been after them for years. I just purchased my first compound bow and am excited about archery hunting this fall. I’ve met several big hunters around the area who’ve invited me to hunt with them. Now I just need to get my wife to agree to eat venison. We have a cabin on the Mississippi River in Minnesota near the town of Wabasha (the town was the subject of the hit movie ‘Grumpy Old Men’) and the family spends lots of time there every summer. We enjoy nights around the campfire, long boat rides, skiing, fishing and playing on the mighty Mississippi River. Our favorite activity at the river is to spend the day on a nice warm sandbar, swimming, relaxing and cooking on the grill. Our 100 pound Golden Retriver, Parker – loves the water and any extras that fall off the grill!

Pet Peeves:
people who don’t use their turn signals; people who blow their snow into the street instead of into their yards, people who water their lawns when it’s not needed, people who throw their cigarette butts out their car windows or on the ground.
